Dealing With Persecution :

Help !!! I’m getting death Threats!!

What Do I Do, When the Persecution Becomes Violent !?

How can I protect my Family, when their Lives are in danger?

You’ve gotten an unsigned death threat, what do you do? If it only happens once or on Halloween night or it‘s taped on your locker at school, than it is probably just a prank, and should not concern you too much. If it does happen at school, be sure to give the note/threat to the principle immediately-don’t wait to find out who did it, or for a second note to appear before you act.
One solitary note, shouldn’t be to much of a worry, someone is probably just trying to scare you for the fun of it, and not really out to hurt you, however, if it continues, or if you have had any other suspicious happenings, such as you begin receiving nasty phone calls, pictures of guns or coffins on your doorstep, water in your car’s gas tank, slashed tires, rocks thrown at your windows, or paintballs shot at your house night after night, then you really have a problem and you need to get the help of your local police department.

Yeah, I know, it’s the 21st century, not the 1600’s. Being a Witch it supposed to be cool now a days, right? Wrong. You think, you are going to be like those cute girls on T.V? Everyone’s going to love you because you’re a Witch? No, one will want to hurt you, they won’t dare to hurt a Witch, right? After all you’re a Witch, people are scared of Witches, right? You have a lot of learning to do, if you think like that. So those things don’t happen to Witches anymore, you say? Once you start telling people that you are a Witch, you are going to be in for a harsh wake-up call. Welcome to the real world! A world, were people are people, and that often means that they are rude, selfish, hurtful, jealous, violent, nasty, and just plain, not nice. Yes, we all dream about world peace and lions and lambs dancing among roses, but not many people actually live their dreams. The real world is not very peaceful. It’s a world were, yes, people really are scared of Witches, but unlike the movies, when real people get scared, they don’t run away, instead they react violently. This ain’t some cutesy TV show where you get to prance around in cool clothes and scatter pixie dust, while all the world applauds and your friends stand around all amazed and say oh and ah. Once you announce that you are a Witch, you’ll be lucky if you have any friends left at all. No one is willing to back up a Witch.

Every one of those things I’ve mentioned above happened to me and my family over a two year period starting in July of 2002.The phone calls began coming at a rate of 13 calls every hour! The dark green 4-door sedan arrived every night promptly at 8:00,a paint-gun aimed out the passenger side window and neon pink paintballs shot all over the front of our house, side of our car, and mailbox. Rocks were thrown through windows and at our animals. Pictures of guns torn from gun catalogs were left on our front door. My advice to you was to call the police right? So, where were the police, you ask? We called them, they arrived: “Did you get the license plate number?”-No, it was dark. “Did the phone company trace the calls?”-They tried, but it was a cell phone and therefore “untraceable”. “Did you see who left the gun picture?”- No it was there this morning when we got up. “Oh well, there’s not much I can do than. I’ll take that picture of the gun back to the station, but unless you can give us more evidence I’m afraid we can’t help you.” -And then he drove away. Each time a different officer came to the house and each time we were told the same thing. The biggest blow came to our family the night some men came, cut our house in half, lifted it off of it’s foundation, illegally moved it half way across the state, and then sold it! As I write this book, my family and I, now homeless, live with our neighbor while the criminal trial for the church that stole and sold our house is underway. (Yes, you read that correctly-it was a 70 year old, Pentecostal Pastor and his family, and his church congregation, that were responsible both for stealing our house and everything in it, and the two years of vandalism that we received! To make the whole situation that much worse, it was a church that we had attended for eight years, a church that contained many other Witches, and it was the Witches themselves who were responsible for much of the violence! Of all of the Witches there, I alone did not hide my being a Witch from the congregation. Let it be said that Witches who are hypocrites and turn on their own kind, have no business being Witches).

Reporters immediately put news of our stolen house on the front page of local papers, and New England’s #1 law firm, Veril & Dana sent out one of their top lawyers to represent us at no cost! Now it’s true that the persecution against you and your family may not include a half-crazed angry church mob stealing your house, but it is very much possible and quite likely that you will be teased, your house, car, and property vandalized, receive death threats, nasty notes, mean phone calls, and it is even possible that someone may actually try to kill you! (Luckily I have not yet had that problem! I‘ve heard of others who have had that problem, though, even in today’s age.) So what do you do? Well, first of all-call the police, even if you don’t have any evidence at all, even if you are going on a hunch-call them and let them know that you are scared-let them know that you think that you or your family may be in danger. Even if you have no evidence to give them, they will come to your house and file a report-it doesn’t matter if you have to call them every single day-they are there to help you, that is their job, and they will at least write up a report, if nothing else. We called the police several times before the first “physical” evidence showed up: a gun catalog on our front door! After that they doubled the patrol officers on our street, and as the threats got worse the officers became more numerous. Ever though we weren’t able to give them any evidence linked to any one individual person, they still tried to help.

Besides calling the police we put up signs. Yup, you heard me-we taped together sheets of poster board until we had large billboard sized signs, and with a black permanent ink magic marker wrote things like: “Our house was stolen by a local pastor”,”Thou shalt not steal”,”Bring Back Our Home”,”Pastors who steal houses from children hate their own soul”,etc. Most of them were quotes from the Bible, including the entire chapter 5 from the book of Acts (its about a thief-read it and see what happens to people who steal and than lie about it-not many preachers will tell you the story of Ananias the thief ; it‘s one of the Bible’s many “darker tales“ that most people don‘t even know exists, people get so caught up in the cute lovey-dovey “children’s stories” in the Bible, that they forget that most of the Bible is a very gruesome and very graphic horror story about how terrible God‘s wrath is against sinners) and the Ten Commandments. All together over fifty signs have been put up-and with the police’s approval .The officers toot their horns and flash their blue light each time they pass our now empty, houseless lot full of signs. Word of our “stolen house signs” has apparently gotten out, as we daily have people stopping to take pictures-many with out of state and even Canadian license plates! The signs are still up and will remain up until our house is returned back home to us where it belongs. After the signs went up, the first thing the Pastor did, was to sue us for slander-the police immediately came over and carefully examined our signs-”I see that you have only used the word ‘pastor’ and no names are actually mentioned. How many pastors do you suppose there are in this town alone? Doesn’t that pastor who’s suing you for slander live more than five cities away from here? He can’t prove these signs are for him, and only the guilty pastor would think that they were.” The officers left laughing, and that afternoon the cars that went by tooting their horns, blasting their sirens, and flashing their lights included not only the police officers, but also the town’s ambulance, the fire department’s tank and ladder trucks, the animal control officer, and several police and firemen driving by in their own private cars-they may not be able to legally help us much without any “hard evidence”,but that sure didn’t stop them from showing their support for us! The Pastor’s charges of slander were thrown out of court as unfounded–by United States law, anyone can write anything they want and put it on a sign on their own property and not be taking to court for slander as long as no names are mentioned-I checked this out and then got it confirmed with the local police beforehand. That gave the pastor’s congregation a new form of vandalism of course: now besides everything else, they are also pulling down signs, tearing up signs, ripping up signs, slashing signs, and throwing mud at signs, etc.; however, each time one sign goes down, it is promptly replaced by two more that are bigger then the ones torn down; I have long been noted by my friends and family for my extremely tenacious, stubborn, undying persistence and perseverance.

By now you are probably saying to yourself, but she’s a Witch why not just put a spell on them and get it over with, give ‘em a good old whammy? Why?!? Why!?! How could you even think to ask such a thing?!? Did you forget the rule of “Harm None”?? My grandfather was one of the greatest Wizards ever to live, my grandmother was powerful Witch, and both always taught that we were to bless those who persecute us, love your enemies, pray for those that spitefully use us, love them that hate us, do what Christ did. We as Witches, do not seek revenge; for when in seeking revenge, we are no better, and even worse, then our persecutors. We let God and the law take care of the evil doers, and we pray and ask the Lord to help the law, to help our cause, and to reveal the sins of our persecutors so that they may be properly punished-by the law and by God, not by us. We also know that God will send guardian angels and the spirits of the dead to smite, haunt, and curse the evil doers, and you will always prevail, so long as you do not become as the wicked ones and seek to do evil and harm. Remember too, that what so ever you do to another person, will come back on you seven times!! This applies not only to you, but also to your persecutors, as well. The universal laws of spiritual and magnetic energy will see to it that they get their just deserts; so you see-you don’t need to cast a spell or put a curse on your persecutors, because in harming you they have already placed a curse upon themselves. Any curse that comes toward you shall be mirrored and sent back to the party by which it was sent, so you have no need of sending curses.

Keep in mind, however, that in being a Witch, you do have a certain amount of advantage over your persecutors. Spells for instance-but you think that I just said “no spells”? No, I did not say-no spells-I said “harm no one” and seek not for revenge. There are many spells that you can use to protect yourself and your family, there are spells to aid in enhancing the quickness in which a curse sent to you is returned to it’s sender, and in a true emergency ‘matter of life and death’ situation-there are the all powerful Vodun Poppets, which can and do cause great harm (and could even result in death-they often do. Remember that the use of Vodun Poppets should be reserved only for the most extreme situations where actual loss of life and physical harm must be prevented. They are dangerous.)

Whatever you choose to do, remember that you are not seeking revenge, you must always keep this in mind when working a spell, curse, or hex. You are seeking help from the creator, through these spells; you are seeking protection from harm; you seek to stop evil from coming your way. Remember that every object has a certain amount of energy emanating from it, you can use that energy to your advantage-that is why God, put it there. Spells, curses, and hexes cast when angry or afraid are the most powerful and have the quickest results, be sure you act, plan, and word them very, very, very carefully. You are protecting your family from harm; if harm is persistent than you must seek to stop the harm from coming, but you never, ever seek revenge. Don’t forget that it is possible too, to cast spells that will make it easier for the police, lawyers, and others to discover the truth, thus hasting the arrest and punishment (by the law) of your persecutors. And always remember, that the most powerful spell of all, is often the one used the least: prayer. Pray daily, pray morning, noon, and night. Have faith, believe in your prayers, believe in your words, know that your words will come to pass, know that your prayers are heard, know that your prayers are answered. God always answers prayer. Nothing is more powerful, than the power of your own words in prayer. Through prayer, all things are possible.

If revenge is still on your mind, there is a non-harmful way to get it, and it works better than any spell, too! Smile, wave, laugh, dance, sing, praise God out loud, don’t look angry, continue to go about your normal business, don’t hide from them, go out in public-and let them see you, let them see you being happy, help them, ignore any hash remarks-act as though they had just said they loved you, and than say “I love you” to them. Simple isn’t it? It’s not easy. It’s quite hard, actually. When all you really want to do is strangle the person /people who are hurting you, it is not easy to smile and wave when you see them. However, if you do, they will become frustrated and mad, because they know what they did, and they know that you know what they did, but you are still happy, you are still laughing, you aren’t afraid of them! You have won the race! This confuses them terribly, because by all their logic, you should be afraid of them now, you should be scared, you should be crying, you should be hiding from them, you should be angry at them, you should be seeking revenge right now, but you’re not, and their plan didn’t work, they have failed. They did not succeed. They can not triumph over you. They are not the dominate ‘all powerful one’ that they thought they were. You have the victory over them, and they can’t stand it! You won, and they don’t know how! You have the power! You have the power of the Lord on your side, and no matter how religious your persecutors may think themselves to be, they will never triumph over you unless you let them. They have no power over you!

Love everyone, harm no one. This is what Jesus was all about; this is what He taught His followers; this is what Jesus did when the Jewish priests and holy men accused Him of Witchcraft and religious blasphemy; this is what Jesus did when the Roman government accused Him of being a rebel and an instigator of an anti-Roman uprising, this is what Jesus did when His own followers turned there backs on Him. Jesus never once sought revenge. Stand proud, stand tall, do not bend, do not bow, do not break, never back down. You have the power! The victory is yours!

Here are some of Richard Saunders maxims, otherwise know as words of wisdom from Benjamin Franklin, on the matter of dealing with enemies.

Beware of meat twice boil’d, & an old foe reconcil’d.

Relation without friendship, friendship without power, power without will,
will without effect, effect without profit, & profit without vertue, are not worth a farto.

He that lies down with Dogs, shall rise up with fleas.

There is neither honour nor gain, got in dealing with a villain.

He that lives carnally, won’t live eternally.

Innocence is its own Defence.
Would you live with ease,
Do what you ought, and not what you please.

Better slip with foot than tongue.

You cannot pluck roses without fear of thorns.

Blame-all and Praise-all are two blockheads.

What ever’s begun in anger ends in shame.

Who pleasure gives,
Shall joy receive.

Be neither silly, nor cunning, but wise.

Do good to thy Friend to keep him, to thy enemy to gain him.

An innocent Plowman is more worthy than a vicious Prince.

If you wou’d be reveng’d of your enemy, govern your self.

A wicked Hero will turn his back to an innocent coward.

The magistrate should obey the Laws, the People should obey the magistrate.

Avarice and Happiness never saw each other,
how then shou’d they become acquainted.

By diligence and patience, the mouse bit in two the cable.

Be slow in chusing a Friend, slower in changing.

The cunning man steals a horse, the wise man lets him alone.

It is better to take many Injuries than to give one.

One Mend-fault is worth two Findfaults,
but one Findfault is better than two Makefaults.

Do not do that which you would not have known.

Gifts burst rocks.

The rotten Apple spoils his Companion.

He that sells upon trust, loses many friends, and always wants money.

Don’t throw stones at your neighbours, if your own windows are glass.

He that scatters Thorns, let him not go barefoot.

There’s none deceived but he that trusts.

The Master-piece of Man, is to live to the purpose.

No better relation than a prudent & faithful Friend.

Tis better leave for an enemy at one’s death, than beg of a friend in one’s life.

The noblest question in the world is What Good may I do in it?

Nothing so popular as GOODNESS.

Who has deceiv’d thee so oft as thy self?

Let thy vices die before thee.

Since I cannot govern my own tongue, tho’ within my own teeth,
how can I hope to govern the tongues of others?

‘Tis less discredit to abridge petty charges, than to stoop to petty Gettings.

If you do what you should not, you must hear what you would not.

Wish not so much to live long as to live well.

As we must account for every idle word, so we must for every idle silence.

None but the well-bred man knows how to confess a fault,
or acknowledge himself in an error.

Wink at small faults; remember thou hast great ones.

Search others for their virtues, thy self for thy vices.

If thou wouldst live long, live well; for Folly and Wickedness shorten Life.

Thou canst not joke an Enemy into a Friend; but thou may’st a Friend into an Enemy.

No Resolution of Repenting hereafter, can be sincere.

If thou injurest Conscience, it will have its Revenge on thee.

Hear no ill of a Friend, nor speak any of an Enemy.

Let our Fathers and Grandfathers be valued for their Goodness,
ourselves for our own.

Sin is not hurtful because it is forbidden but it is forbidden because it’s hurtful.
Nor is a Duty beneficial because it is commanded, but it is commanded,
because it’s beneficial.

Love, and be lov’d.

An open Foe may prove a curse;
But a pretended friend is worse.

Those who in quarrels interpose,
Must often wipe a bloody nose.

Fear to do ill, and you need fear nought else.

Avoid dishonest Gain: No price;
Can recompence the Pangs of Vice.

Lend Money to an Enemy, and thou’lt gain him, to a Friend and thou’lt lose him.

Monkeys warm with envious spite,
Their most obliging FRIENDS will bite; –
And, fond to copy human Ways,
Practise new Mischiefs all their days.

E’er you remark another’s Sin,
Bid your own Conscience look within.

And finaly,a word of advise from the Bible:

Let all that you do be done with love.

~ 1 Corinthians 16:14

Why Witches dress the way they do: Or who wears what, when.

Why Witches dress the way they do: Or who wears what, when.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Why do Witches dress so differently from other people? Witches are driven by natural instinct to live freely, flowing through life, unencumbered and in harmony with nature’s energy flow. Our clothing reflects this freedom. We wear simple clothes that don’t way us down, cloths that slip on and off without a fuss-cloths without buttons, zippers, or snaps. Most Witches are instantly identified by their clothing. Witches are not ashamed of who and what they are and dress exactly as they have for centuries-men and women alike, wear long flowing gowns, loose full chemises, light weight caftans, shawls, veils, plaid runas, velvet robes, hooded burnooses, and capes. Their clothing is simple, inexpensive, loose, unhampered, unencumbered, non-restricting, breathable, and only very rarely store bought-most all Witches make their own clothes; it’s a rare Witch that buys clothing from a store. Witches don’t care what other people may think of their “odd” clothes anymore than they care about people complaining about their “odd” ways of living. The opinions of others are not important to us, we are not Witches because we want to impress anyone-we are Witches because that is our calling-it is what the Lord has asked us to do and we obey our Master’s voice.

A Witch’s clothing must flow freely about their body so that all of nature’s sacred energy is allowed to enter into their personal auras, while also providing protection from the weather-snow, wind, rain, hurricane, and the summer sun-Witches spend a large majority of their time outside in nature. Tight clothing, especially pants hinders one’s receptiveness to the magnetic energies of life. One’s wardrobe will usually consist of two or three floor-length shifts/chemises, a satchel or purse, a runa shawl or two, a loose but warm jacket, a robe or two, and one or two floor-length hooded capes. In the colder climates, like here on the icy cold coast of Maine, a Witch’s wardrobe will generally be made of fabrics such as velvet, suede, corduroy, fleece, fur, wool, plaid, knit, crochet, sheepskin, leather, or other warm “winter-proof” fabrics and will also have the necessary addition of a floor-length lined fur or fleece coat, scarves, gloves, and hats (not what you may be thinking, not knitted hats–wide brimmed hats, hats of felted wool, or fur-things you would expect to have seen before the 1900’s often styles dating as far back as the 1300’s,back when clothing was made to be warm, long lasting, and practical, and not to be “in fashion”).During Maine’s short summers or in warmer climates a Witch’s wardrobe is generally made of fabrics such as:cotton, batiste, calico, eyelet, lace, gingham, seersucker, gauze, and other light weight fabrics. You will notice that the women never wear pants and rarely wear a two-piece dress, and that men often wear robes. Long flowing gowns, robes, and capes are the norm.

Your body acts as an antenna and loose fitting easily drapeable fabric allows nature’s magnetic energy to flow freely around you and attract more easily to you, allowing for better spiritual reception. Witches will often wear colors to match their mood or the spell that they are performing. Most Witches sew their own clothes-I certainly do.

Clothes should be made to last. If you are like most of the wasteful people in the world today, you probably throw out your clothes and buy an entirely new wardrobe every year or two–What! You mean you don’t even keep your clothes that long-you mean you have to buy a new wardrobe every season of every year! Boy aren’t you the wasteful one. So what are you? A chaser of current fashion, a slave to the latest fad, or just feeling peer pressure? American modern civilization–oh how I hate it. You really need to take a lesson from Witches, Native Americans, and Medieval History. Witches know that one of the first laws to becoming at one with nature’s energy is to not waste things, cherish what you have, take care of it, don’t let it wear out, thank the Great Spirit for blessing you with it, ask Him to bless others as He has blessed you, don’t worry about getting the same things your neighbor has: you are not your neighbor-you are you, you are a totally unique individual, you are not like any other person on this entire planet and you have no reason to try to be like your neighbor, just be yourself, be happy to be you. Native Americans know this too. In Medieval times, even royalty, only had to buy new clothes once every ten to twenty years. The fabrics they used were made to last: velvet, brocade, jacquard, wool, cotton, linen, silk (real silk from real silkworms-not the thin polyester stuff you see today) and flax. Their clothes were sewn by hand using strong durable threads. Buttons were rare, zippers had not yet been invented, and they only washed their clothes once every month or so. Their clothes wear made to be durable and strong, weather resistant and long lasting, clothes that would stand up to the labors of farm work and still be fashionable enough to wear to a dinner party.
Why people today are so wasteful is beyond me, but if you really want to become a Witch than you are going to have to learn how to take better care of your clothes and make them last longer, start wearing clothes that are made of durable long lasting fabric, clothes that you can get up in the morning and put on without worrying about how fashionable they are or what others will think about them. You will find that once you have freed yourself from worrying about your clothes, that you will stop using up so much of your energy, you won’t be so stressed out, and you will find it much easier to meditate, and all this will result in your becoming a much better Witch, much more in tune to the voices of the spirit world, and you will be much more receptive to harnessing nature’s magnetic energies-the key ingredient for casting spells, healing the sick, and communicating with the Great Spirit. All in all clothes can make or break a Witch, by affecting how you think not only about yourself, but also about how you think about the world around you.

Do Wiccan dress like Witches? Some Wiccan Witches may dress like Witches however, most Wiccans look just like everybody else and few well actually admit to being a Witch for fear of rejection, being fired, or being ridiculed. (Fears that, sad fact is, may well be justified. It’s a pity that there aren’t more people aren’t so prejudice.)

Don’t all Witches always wear black? No, only those who like wearing black all the time, wear black all the time. Actually it’s rare for a real Witch to wear black, as black is a negative color that attracts negative energy. Most Witches were colors that attract the type of energy the like best. Bright colors attract happy, healthy, joyful energy, so most Witches tend to wear bright or pastel colors. Witches can dress any way they choose. They may “look” like Witches or they may look like anyone else. You do not have to change the way you dress now, unless you want to. You can be a Witch and still wear all the same clothes you already own. Many Witches do. You probably meet lots of Witches every day, without even knowing it. It is up to you to decide what you want to do, and what you want to wear. If you feel that your clothing has no effect on your spells and healing, than they probably don’t. Many Witches, myself included, feel that dressing in a “traditional, old-fashioned, or Gothic” manner helps to prepare them mentally for casting a spell. A few Witches, even go so far as to reserve certain articles of clothing to be worn, only for casting certain spells. This seems to be a bit much for me, but if it works for them, fine. Different people respond in different ways to the exact same techniques. Find what works for you, and stick with it, perfect it, make it uniquely your own.

What about the “witches” I see at the mall; they always dress in black? Those people you see all dressed in black, black makeup, and allot of heavy pewter, silver, and gold jewelry are not usually witches. You may on occasion find a rare Witch who does if fact dress like this (I did as a teenager for about a year and then got bored with how depressing all black all the time was), but this is not the norm. Generally you will discover that these people not only aren’t witches but they don’t even claim to be! Usually they turn out to be fans of the latest glam-punk rock group and are merely dressing like their “hero”. (Followers of rock groups and singers such as Poison and Alice Cooper, often dress like this). Sometimes you will discover that even if they do claim to be witches, once you start questioning them about witchcraft, you will quickly learn that their limited “knowledge” of witchcraft consists of graveyard séances at midnight, flying away on a broomstick, and other hooky things they “learned” from the latest Hollywood movie. The lone exceptions to this are the Gothics, who as I mentioned earlier, are Witches who want to make a fashion statement-they are the “runway models” of the Witch world. As a teenager, I myself was once a full-blown “Black” Gothic or Goth Queen as we when often called.

Kerchiefs are said to protect a woman’s hair from evil spirits; is that true? Is that why so many Witches keep their hair covered with a kerchief? This is an old a very ancient belief that was believed to have been started by the Arabians. It was believed that Jinns (Genies) liked to hide in a woman’s hair, and cause headaches, heatstroke’s, and other mischief, thus women soon became afraid to go outside with out long veils over their heads. They believed that if they wore the veils the evil Jinns would not be able to pull their hair and cause headaches. In reality it was the hot desert sun that was causing the headaches, but they didn’t know about such things than. As the years went by men became accustomed to seeing women shrouded in long veils, and began to believe that it was a sin for women to not wear veils; thus the Middle East’s belief in the veiling of women began. As more and more years went by, more and more religions began to adopt the belief that only evil women, Witches, and devil worshippers would dare be seen by anyone other than her husband, without a long veil covering her entire body. In the Middle East, and amongst the most traditional of the Jews this belief still holds strong today. By Medieval Times (100-1500) even the Christians began adopting this belief. In Europe in the 1300’s,the Wimple (still worn today by Catholic nuns) became a requirement of all “good Christian” women, who could not leave their house without wearing a Wimple for fear of being executed for Witchcraft. While in Eurasia (most notably Russia, Turkey, Romania, and Transylvania) because neither the Wimple nor the veil were practical for the hard working country women, the triangular kerchief was worn for protection. Although the belief of covering a woman’s head was universal to all cultures, the reasons were quite different. By this time the Middle East and the Christians both shared the belief that it was a sin for a man to look at an unveiled woman, however the sin always fell on the head of the innocent woman, never the lustful man. Thus husbands, fathers, and religious leaders alike came to the same conclusion~ women were no longer allowed to go outside the walls of their house without the company of a male relative, and only then on the rarest of occasion and only after she had been properly shrouded, veiled, and sheathed, The real reason for this extreme protectiveness was do to the fact that the Black Plague had a few years earlier killed off more than two-thirds of the entire population on the planet-about sixty million people-leaving many thousands of men, but only a few thousand women and children on the entire planet. Men became like desperate ravenous wolves, and would hunt down and capture women by any means possible~ it was the closest the human race ever came to extinction since the Great Flood of Noah’s time. The Black Plague also sparked the belief in werewolves in Europe (men became wild ungroomed wanders, half crazed from the Plague and on the brink of starvation-they often ran about “on all fours”, unclothed, and covered in long tangled hair, many of them turned to cannibalism~ insanity was unheard of at that time, and it was believe that these men were possessed with evil spirits, and had become half man and half wolf~ thus the legend of werewolves began.), and vampires in Eurasia, most of the vampire tales came from the mountain dwellers of the Carpathian Alps, who had little contact with the outside world and were left largely unaffected by the Plague, but their travelers were quite started upon finding cities of dead bodies and the same type of “wolf-men” wandering the streets and returned to the mountains with tales of the undead feeding on human blood~ and so began the vampire legends. It is from the vampire tales that the kerchief as we know it today come into being. It was believed vampires went after women more often than men and that magic or sacred triangles were able to protect the women. So a large triangle of fabric was tied over their hair .As the beliefs in evil spirits declined due to the discover of mental illness and women began to fight for their rights (both things came about in th 1700’s) the veiling of women became progressively less and less, until it totally disappeared in most cultures entirely.

As for the reasons why many Witches often wear kerchiefs, there are countless reasons. There are some who do still hold to the belief that it protects them from evil spirits and surprising many that still hold to the belief that it is a sin for a man to look at an unveiled woman, while some feel that the triangular shape holds magic powers and helps them to communicate with the spirits (such as “gypsy fortune tellers”), many wear them because it was a family or religious tradition (often seen with African, Voodoo, Spanish, Jewish, Hindus, Magi, Muslims, and other religions) a large majority of Witches today wear them because they feel it gives them a sense of mystery and finally most just wear them because they like to and think it’s fashionable.
