LDS Friends, Temple Trips, & the continual lowering of standards by the Church

Friday, May 29, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Why do people always come back from the Boston Temple complaining that the cafeteria raised it’s prices again, they didn’t bring enough money for food, and ended up buying snacks out of the vending machines instead? What the hell are vending machines doing in the temple? Why is there a cafeteria in the temple? Buying & selling in the temple, didn’t Jesus have a few things to say about making temples a den of thieves?

I take it that LDS Temples are quite a bit different now, than they were in the 1970’s. Back when I went if you even thought of bringing money in the building it would have warranted questioning wither or not you should be excommunicated.

The church has been going progressively down hill since they changed all the laws in 1979. I do not like all the “new ways” not one bit. It was bad enough when they started letting children attend public schools. Now buying and selling in the temple? What’s next?

And, you are supposed to fast 3 days prior to a temple trip and fast while you are there, and fast for at least 24 hours after returning home – when the hell the the church change that?

I think the church that likes to preach “In the world but not of the world” has finally lowered it’s standards so much that it is now no different from any other politically correct religion. The Mormon church I grew up in, and the church today are so very different from one another. It’s like it’s not even the same church any more. This isn’t the church that I joined 34 years ago, the laws are so changed, the ways of governing are so different. What happened? Why did the Salt Lake Leadership find it necessary to lower their standards until they were dragging in the gutter? What ever happened to “In the world but not of the world?”

What’s your take on this? I’d love to hear what you have to say about this post. Leave a comment and share your views!
