New Book Projects, Job Searches, & Seventh Sanctum

You may have noticed that the past couple of days, I have not been posting as often as I was; from 4 or 5 posts a day to about one every other day. There is a reason, quite simple. I got an idea for a new book, and spent the last few days researching it. As ever, one thing lead to another and now I’ve got ideas for three new books and have been working on them all at once. Of course, me writing longhand means I wasn’t online, meaning I was not here to blog. Sorry.

Other reason, is I’m still out searching for a job type job, but have yet to find one. As usual I am told that businesses just won’t hire someone who had never been to school, or someone my age who has never had a job before. :( (Apperantly, 7 years as a door to door salesman for Avon, doesn’t count as a job, nor does 27 years of writing… or so I’m told by interviewers.) It is getting quite depressing, as I have been seeking a job since May of 2006 and now May 2007 is just around the corner and still all of my endless applications and interviews have turned up nothing. I’m now having a hard time finding places that I have not yet applied to. I feel like I’ve run up against a brick wall, cause I’m still intent on finding a job, yet I can not find any place that I have not already been turned down.

Well, after a day of searching classified ads and online job searches, I have given it a rest for the night and am back here to say hi to you all and let you know what I’d been doing and thinking. Columbo is on TV right now, so I’m gonna go watch that now, after which I’ll be heading to Seventh Sanctum in search of some ideas for my 3 new book projects. Seventh Sanctum is such a great site, I get loads of ideas from them. If you haven’t checked them out yet, be sure to do so.

About Me

Hello starshine and welcome to my newest blog. If you are one of my faithful followers and devoted fans, I send you lots of {{{{{{{{{{{{{huggles}}}}}}}}}}}}. If we have never crossed paths before, than I bid you welcome and shake you warmly by the hand. For those who know me, I am of course EelKat and for those of you who do not know me, well, I’m still EelKat, but I suppose that doesn’t mean anything to you, so I’ll introduce myself so I can add you to my ever growing list of faithful and devoted followers ;) .

I am Wendy C. Allen, writer of sci-fi, romance, and horror, most noted as the creator of The Twighlight Manor series, a multi-volume epic gothic sci-fi-romance set in the haunted house, known as The Twighlight Manor.

On the internet, I am know as EelKat, my alter-ego, the talking black bobcat from Planet Diona (a character from both The Twighlight Manor series & The Planet Ptarmargin series, as well as The Chrystonite Chronicles).

In alphabetical order: I like Alan Rickman, Alice Cooper, birds, candy, Carl Barks, cats, C*C*DeVille, Colombo, comic books, Darkwing Duck, David Bowie, Disney, dogs, Don Rosa, Donald Duck, dvds, eels, Etiole, fashion, gothic, haunted houses, horror, Jack Sparrow, Johnny Depp, Kieth Laumer, movies, NegaDuck, pigeons, Prof. Snape, Retief, roosters, sci-fi, Scrooge McDuck, Sir Roderic, Twighlight Manor, Uncle Scrooge, video games, Vincent Price, Willy Wonka, writing, Zorro.

I am the creator and Administrator of A Writer’s Desk, the forum for writers.

I am an active eBayer and regular poster on the Padded Cell.

I am one of the Disney Duck historian/editors of I.N.D.U.C.K.S. the online encyclopidia of the Disney Duck Family History. I also own one of the world’s largest and most complete Disney Duck comic book collections.

I am a huge fan of Don Rosa and his book The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck.

Of course that means I’m also a huge fan of Carl Barks and his art work and stories as well.

Additionaly I run over 200 web-sites which when grouped together, make up The Space Dock 13 Network. These sites, include 12 Fanlistings, 9 Blogs, 7 Forums, 56 Online stores, 13 sites devoted to my Disney fandoms, 68 web-rings, 2 RPG’s, a couple of sites where I review books, movies, & other web sites, countless various sites I built on a spur of the moment whim, and several small personal home pages, for a grand total of more than 3,000 pages! And The Space Dock 13 Network gets bigger every day… this blog is proof of that, as it is the newest addition to the Network; and watch for Space Dock 13 to grow even faster than ever, because my 3 teenaged brothers have just begun to to learn the art of creating web sites, already they have added 5 new sites to the Network!

I have been on the internet since 1997, I quickly became addicted and never looked back! I bet you can tell!

So what do I do when I’m not writing books or cruiseing online? Well, I love to watch movies and read. My fave actors are Vincent Price & Johnny Depp… and if you are a fan of JD too, than you’ll have caught that quote I slipped into the first paragraph of this post… If you missed it, than go back and re-read the first paragraph, if you still can’t find it, go watch Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, cause that’s what it came from.

Another actor/character combo I like is Alan Rickman as Prof. Snape.

I’m a life long fan of Willy Wonka… before Johnny Depp, and before Gene Wilder, there was the CANDY, CANDY, CANDY! In the 1970′s I was a taste-tester for The Willy Wonka Candy Company… I got to eat Nerds, Runts, Tart N Tinies, and Rinky-Dinks months before they hit the store shelves! Oh what bragging rights I had back than! I quickly became a devoted fan of the first movie staring Gene Wilder, and than when Johnny Depp took over as the new Wonka it was a dream come true! All Hail Wonka! (I’m eating Laffy Taffy, Lik-m-Dips, and Nerds as I write this!) Gotta love Wonka!

My fave writers are Kieth Laumer (Retief) and Douglass Adams (Hitchhicker’s Guide To The Galaxy & Dr. Who).

My fave TV shows are Darkwing Duck, X-Files, Star Trek (original), Dr. Who (Tom Baker), Xena, Colombo, and Sherlock Holmes staring Jeremy Brett.

My fave singers are C*C*DeVille, Poison, David Bowie, & Alice Cooper.

I love cats, dogs, roosters, birds, and esp. eels. (Have or have had pets of all of the above.)

I love living near the ocean, I love the smell of the salt air, the sound of the waves, the feel of the sand between my toes… nothing in the world is better than living on the cold icey North Atlantic Ocean!

Well, that’s me. Why not comment and tell me about you?
