@fluidstatic

fizzled fanfic idea – that happened to me last year – had months of InuYasha outlines than changed my mind mid Oct. It was weird, I had folks waiting for me to rewrite 558 because it had such a sucky ending – Rin got taken away from Sessh. I’ve followed the series for ages, and waited for a happy ending – Sessh and Rin have never had a happy ANYTHING – than suddenly the series ends with them being torn apart! So from April 2008 to Oct 2008, all I talked about was my plan to do a fan-fic novel to rewrite the final chapters of InuYasha into a better ending for Sessh and Rin. Than October came and suddenly, NaNoWriMo fever really hit in, and I tossed aside my entire plot! I think the problem was that I spent so much time planning it, that by the time it came to write it, I was bored with the idea and wanted a fresh idea for NaNo instead.

Well, my Inu fan-fic idea got swept away and replaced with 5 other plot ideas. I couldn’t decide what to write, so I started all five of them to see what would happen. 2008 was my best and worst NaNo year. I ended the month with 238k words, my best count ever. I also had a jumbled mess with 4 books scattered all over the place – none of which I ever went back to finish, mostly because the pieces of chapters are so loosely connected that the plot doesn’t flow well. Fortunately my 5th book was salvageable and I spent most of December – August editing and it was published just a few weeks ago. My only pubbed NaNo to date.

I learned a lesson – while I could have written 2 books at the same time, trying to write 5 at the same time was a big mistake. I also learned, while I could hit 200k words in 30 days – my hands just were not up to it – they hurt awful after wards because I pushed myself beyond my comfort zone. I will not try to write more than 75k for NaNoWriMo again.

I know what it’s like to have an OC and not write about them. I’ve done that too. The first time I finally wrote about one of my *avoided* OC’s, was during NaNo 2006. At first I was going to write something else, but this OC, just wouldn’t get out of my head. I think in the end, it turned out to be one of the best things I ever wrote, and I think it had a lot to do with the fact that I really liked this OC a lot.

I’m driving my 3 brothers and my SO (hopefully future husband???) crazy right now. I’m reading Jack Frost books, watch Santa Clause 3 every night. Chattering none stop about whatever my latest NaNo post was, I’m driving them all up the wall. The only ones who really understand me are my 16 cats and fellow NaNoTweeters.

I’m sorry to say the house has not been vacuumed since September – I’m just too busy obsessing over my nearly non-existent, yet 22k long outline, which has not told me anything about my plot other than the fact that I’m really too obsessed with Jack Frost. My SO says: “You know you have a problem don’t you? This novel writing month business is just a little bit more than an obsession.” I smile and point out that I have Asperger’s Syndrome with OCD tendencies – I’m supposed to go overboard with my projects. :)

I have 11 other plots that keep trying to tell me I should write them for NaNo too. I’ve told myself I’ll do one per month for the next year; if I will or not remains to be seen.

So, what should you do about yours? Well, first off, DON’T QUIT! I quit my first year, and thinking back, I realize, I should have kept going with a second plot instead. I simply got bored with my plot after about 2k words in and stopped writing! I quite almost as soon as I started. I think it was guilt over quitting back than, that caused me to try 5 novels and 200k words last year.

What would I do? I’d write both. At least I’d start writing both on November 1st, and I’d just keep writing back and forth with both, until one of the two *took off* and than I’d run with it, finishing out the month by working mostly on the one that was pulling me to write it the most. Usually, I do start out NaNo with 2 or more plots. I’ll write one for an hour, than spend the next hour writing the other one. Usually by the 7th day one of the two has fizzled into the background, while I just go at writing the other one with no thought to the first.

I think that is your best bet – start both. By the end of the month one of 4 things will have happened:

1 – you’ll have written two novels
2 – you’ll have written the fan-fic and part of the OC
3 – you’ll have written the OC and part of the fan-fic
4 – you’ll have written parts of each, tossed them both and started a third plot that you thought of in the heat of the moment

by November 30th, I usually end up with option #4. :)

If I had to choose one or the other, now, here is my thoughts on what to do:

The advantage of writing your fan-fic, is that you have folks waiting to read it already. The fact that you have folks waiting, means you’ll be more inspired to actually write the fan-fic NaNo or no NaNo.

The advantage of writing your OC, is that you’ll have a first draft of a novel which you’ll be able to polish, edit, and rewrite into a publishable MSS, which you can than have published (either trad or self) – which means you’ll see some sort of an income in the long run, from it.

The fact that it is an OC close to your heart, means you’re tempted to keep putting the story aside, longer and longer. NaNo is the perfect excuse for you to say to heck with it, and just get your OC out of your head and onto to paper once and for all, for better or worse. And if they do come out *flat*, you’ll have all of 2010 to flesh them out and turn them 3-D!

It sounds to me, like you are going to write the fan-fic anyways, and could easily write in in December after NaNo has ended. So I’d go with writing the OC story for NaNo since it’ll be a bigger challenge for you to come face to face with the fear of them not being good enough. The only way to break that fear is to get them on paper, and by getting them on paper during NaNo, you’ll be writing too fast to worry about your fears, thus enabling you to write them.

Well, that’s my thoughts at least. Hope it helps. In any case – don’t quit. Hug your husband and kiddles, remind them that November is your vacation from reality time, maybe suggest he take them out for extra activities during November? (Give you quiet time to write and give them something to do other than go bonkers about you writing.)

>WARNING! Sesame Street is for ADULTS ONLY! . . . ??? . . . Millions of Children Grew Up Watching an M Rated Show!?! Who Knew?

>
black birdfall leaves centerblack bird

Have you seen the rating in the DVD release of Sesame Street? It says that the show was intended for grown-ups! Did you know that you and your children have been watching an M Rated adult show all these years? WOW!

Cookie smokes a pipe and eats junk food, contributing to obesity.

Cute furry blue monsters are going around asking for way too many hugs… hugging is a big no-no now a days!

So it seems that Snuffy really was “snuff”, meaning Big Bird was a drug addict.

The purple dude wearing the triangle shaped collar must be gay, otherwise why have purple skin and wear triangles, and boy oh boy does he have has mental problems because he counts everything he gets near and talks to bats and spiders! For shame!

Best friends who live together, are always gay, so Bert and Ernie bad for kids.

Homeless green grouchy dudes living in trash cans are evil and should be avoided at all costs.

And all men who give milk and cookies to children are pedophiles, thus Gordan and Mr Hooper are not good roll models.

What the hell? What kind of a twisted mind watches Sesame Street and sees puppets teaching the alphabet as rated for adults only? Weird, weird, weird, weird. Don’t think it can get any weirder than that.

You know what? I grew up on Sesame Street! It was one of my favorite shows. I watched Sesame Street and Captain Kangaroo every day, never missed an episode. I was reading and writing at age 3 because of Sesame Street! And apparently I was watching Sesame Street when it was at it’s most evil too: the 1970′s! It’s the episodes from the 1960′s and 1970′s that have the M rating on them! oooooooh!

You know one of the things every body is jumping all over about Sesame Street is the fact that the early episodes show adult men befriends 5 and 6 year old girls… men who btw are a stranger to the girls! Thinks of my fave fictional character: Lord Sesshomaru, who suddenly decides to befriend the 8 year old girl, Rin, and from that point on she lives with him and is his closest companion. Like Sesame Street, the Sessho/Rin relationship was greeted with outraged parents resulting in Romiku ended her book by having Kaede taking Rin away from Sesshomaru. *GRRRR* Evil parents complaining, hurt my Sessho. :(

Okay, so InuYasha is sold as a T-16 rated book, and the tv show is rated M, both ratings due partially to Lord Sesshomaru and the implications of his infatuation over Rin, but who knew Sesame Street was so evil? I mean, wasn’t Sesame Street aired as being intended for ages 2 – 8? Are they saying that what was okay for 2 – 8 year olds 30 years ago, is only fit for adults over 18 in today’s society? Are they trying to tell us that all us children who grew up on Sesame Street now have problems due to our watching Sesame Street and thus children today should not be allowed to watch it in order to prevent them from become like us? Is that the message these rating people are telling us? If so, I ask you than, what is wrong with us? How did Sesame Street corrupt us? What did it do to us that resulted in children today not being allowed to watch it?

I remember Cookie Monster smoking his pipe, eating up cookies, and gulping down whole milk. Today I’m 33 years old, have never smoked, rarely eat cookies, and not only do I drink whole milk, but I also drink heavy cream! And you know what? I’m 5’6″, 36″ x 28″ x 38″ and weigh 138 lbs. I’m the farthest thing from overweight. In spite of my drinking heavy cream mixed with whole milk, I seem to have escaped from the evil clutches of the goggly eyed blue Cookie Monster.

Bert and Ernie are gay! WTH? Where do people come up with this stuff? I remember watching Bert and Ernie, and thinking they were brothers. Never thought of them as anything different and still today look at them and see brothers. Looks like my mind wasn’t naturally corrupted enough to see past my childish innocence and see Bert and Ernie for the evil monsters they really were! *SHEESH*

Big Bird was a drug addict and high as a kite when he went around talking to Snuffy, either that or he was a dangerous raving lunatic who suffered from an advanced case of schizophrenia. Either way that bird and his imaginary friend are just waaaay too evil for children today to watch. Well, now! It looks like all of us fiction authors, who have imaginary characters running around in our brains begging us to write stories about them, we authors, we certainly are an evil lot aren’t we?

It’s politically incorrect to portray poverty ridden homeless men as living in trash cans and hating any one who dares come by. I mean, really, the guy has lived in a trash can so long now that he turned green! How evil is that?

All of the characters are men, not a woman as far as the eye can see… except of course the little girls who go skipping by. It’s discriminating against women and promoting lolicon at the same time. SHOCKING!

Than you got a perverted blue furry guy who’s running around in a cape and asking to hug every one! OMG! Everybody run for the hills, Grover wants to hug you! It’s evil at it’s at it’s cutest!

Lets not forget that weird pointed eared obsessive compulsive freak of a hermit, who has locked himself away in a distant castle, where he sits around all day talking to spiders and bats, playing organ music, and obsessively counting everything in site.

Silly me, here I was watching Sesame Street all these years and I never noticed any of those things! I thought I was watching educational television and learning how to read and write and count and sing along with my favorite puppets. Now we are being told that Sesame Street was REALLY brainwashing us with all sorts of evil hidden messages!

Granted, I can see how Sesame Street did in fact affect me on some levels. My first *love* was Count Von Count, after all, and by the time I was 6 years old I had quite a large collection of Count memorabilia! My first rabid fan-girl mania, was for a purple skinned guy with cute pointy ears, sharp fangs, wearing freaking cloths, suffering from OCD, and playing the piano. Odd… by the time I was 8 years old I had become a rabid fan-girl of Liberace, another weird guy with funny cloths and a piano. By the time I was a teenager I was head over heels for Dracula, Mr. Rochester, Eric, and Lesat.

hhhhmmmm…. Can it be that Sesame Street really did corrupt me after all? If I hadn’t become a fangirl of Count Von Count at such a young age, I might never have moved on to the more dangerous vampires. Of course, I’ve always had a thing for vampy guys with pointy ears and wearing freaky outfits, so can I blame Sesame Street for my current obsession with Lord Sesshomaru? I need to blame Sesame Street for something right? I mean, every body else is after all.

InuYasha 558: Sesshomaru x Rin x Kaede

pawpawpawpawpaw

Okay, so if you’ve followed the books these past 12 years, you know that the final volume came out this week, and if you know me, you know I had all ready read it less than 3 hours after it hit the newstands. If you’ve read it you know that everyone lived happily ever after, except as usual Sesshomaru, who for the 7th time in this series has had yet another woman he loves, taken away from from him. Sara died, Kagura died, Rin died twice and he just keeps bringing her back, yo get the picture. Sesshy’s life has been made complete hell in every volume, and this final volume was no exception. InuYasha married Kagome. Miroku marries Sango. Rin is taken away from Sesshomaru and sent to live with Kaede.

As the days go by and more and more people read the final chapter of InuYasha, and I go through blogs and forums reading people’s responses to it (me only being interested in people’s responses to the Sesshy x Rin part of course!), I am finding one thing a bit odd. Most people seem to be reading it as Sesshomaru left Rin behind, forcing her to live with Kaede.

I actually read the ending totally differently… weird… but I guess I’m weird so, yea, it figures, but anyways, the way InuYasha said that Kaede said Rin was to learn to live in a human village (note that he said, that Kaede said it, not Sesshomaru) I took that to mean that Keade took Rin away from Sesshomaru, not Sesshomaru left Rin with Keade… that is what it says after all, that “Kaede said it”…. not “Sesshomaru said it”.

It seems to me that if he had left her, he wouldn’t be coming back with the gifts either; it’s more logical that Kaede took her, thus now Sesshomaru is sticking around the village and bringing Rin gifts, biding his time, until she’s old enough, to take her away from Kaede without Keade or anyone else being there to say she’s too young.

Well, that’s the way I saw the ending as being.

Did anyone else see it this way, or am I the only one who does not think Sesshomaru left Rin behind?

And another thing… why is this bugging me in the first place? They are fictional characters, it’s not like these things really happened anyways, and yet, I’m all riled up over this! I just can’t get this out of my head. Weird.

I need to examine this farther. I don’t think Sesshomaru would do anything he didn’t want to, it’s not his nature, that’s true, but than all the fuss that went into protecting Rin, over a period of what, 460 chapters?, something like that, would be pointless if he suddenly said to himself, “It’s time to leave her somewhere.”

It’d have been nice if Rumiko would have shown us what triggered the sudden, send Rin off bit, because it is so out of character for Sesshomaru to do that willingly. And it’s out of character for him to not fit to keep Rin.

It seems easier to believe that it was Keade who took Rin away, rather than Sesshomaru who suddenly dumped Rin off on Kaede, and yet, his past actions tell us that if Keade did take Rin from him, he would have reacted but lashing her to pieces with his claws, and than walking over her bloody remains to carry Rin away from the village.

Logic tells us that if Sesshomaru suddenly decided to leave Rin with Kaede, that some event had to have happened to trigger such a dynamic change of character for him. The question is, what could have happened to cause him to do a full 360 degree turn like this?

On the other hand, we do know that Kaede has a soft spot for children, and has been seen on countless occasions to be caring for children from the village. We also know that until the death of Naraku, Kaede had no knowledge of the fact that Rin was living with Sesshomaru. Upon Naraku’s death, Sesshomaru and Rin ended up in the village because Sesshomaru was chasing Naraku and Rin was following after Sesshomaru on Ah-Un.

We now that Sesshomaru hates humans, but we know also that of all humans he reviles priestesses the most, esp. Kikyo and her kin. We have heard these words come straight from his lips on more than one occasion. He refers to both Kikyo and Kaede as “that woman”, with a deep tone of disgust and hatred that far outweighs the hatred in his voice when talking about half-breeds or regular humans. His hatred of human priestess is unfathomable. And yet, not only does he leave Rin in the care of a human, but also a priestess, and to make it one step worse Kikyo’s sister! We have a major mega triple whammy on our hands here, one that glares off the page at us like a hand with 20 sore thumbs on it.

If he had left Rin with anyone else, there would not be so many questions, but the fact that he left her with the human, priestess who was the sister of Kikyo, just goes against everything Rumiko has ever told us about Sesshomaru!

It is completely impossible to believe, knowing what we know about Sesshomaru, that he would ever by himself, come up with the idea of leaving Rin in the care of Kaede.

It would be so much simpler if Rumiko had just added one more page, to tell us why the dessision was made to leave Rin with Kaede. I mean, we all know Sesshomaru would die to protect his beloved Rin. Likewise we all know Rinfights like hell against the idea of either leaving Sesshomaru or worse, living with humans (her worst dreaded fear of all!)

So taking all these facts into consideration, we come to the conclusion that something must have happened in the three year period, something drastic, to change either Sesshomaaru’s or Rin’s mind.

So whose mind was changed and why? Let’s look at what we know and than draw some conclusions:

We see Rin (wearing Kagura’s kimono no less!) happily helping Kaede. Giving that Rin now seems to enjoy living among humans, we can assume that she has somehow lost her fear of humans. We can also assume that she is no longer 100% dependent on Sesshomaru’s protection, and no loner feels the need to run to him for help. In fact her reaction to his presence suggests a tone of indifference. She does not seem to care that he came to visit her, it seems to be just another thing that happens. She is neither pleased to see him, nor displeased. This is out of character for Rin, who normally is overflowing with bubbling joy at even the slightest glance from Sesshomaru. Rin’s outlook towards Sesshomaru has changed, and rather dramaticly.

And why is Rin wearing Kagura’s kimono? How did she get it? If it’s not Kagura’s kimono, than why is she wearing a duplicate of Kagura’s kimono? Kagura being the woman Sesshomaru loved and probably would have taken as his mate had she not died, we must question the change in Rin’s wardrobe and the motive behind it. We know that Sesshomaru gave Rin her golden Noh robes, and we know that he gave you yet another kimono in 558, so we can safely assume that he also gave her this duplicate one that is like the one Kagura wore as well.

Okay, so that’s Rin now, lets look at what Sesshomaru is doing now.

We know how obsessed with Rin, Sesshomaru is, so to see them sepperated, is odd to say the least. Giving that Sesshomaru is still lurking around the village, in spite of his outspoken hatred for humans and his avoidance of setting a foot within a human village, we can assume that he not only still cares about Rin, and still desires to watch over her and protect her, in spite of the fact that she no longer lives with him, but that he is now forcing himself to put aside his hatred for humans, just to be near her. How odd and un-Youkai like of him! To make this whole series of events just a little bit wierder, we now see Sesshomaru flying in to not only visit Rin, but also to bring her gifts as well! Now that is the most, un-Sesshomaru thing to do of all!

Sesshomaru knew that Rin knew he cared for her, and while he knew this, he was not giving her gifts. It seems to indicate now, that Rin is questioning the fact that Sesshomaru cares for her, and he is now overdoing it, by bringing her gifts to prove to her that he does still care for her. If one was to look at the old Rin and Sesshomaru and compare them to the new ones, it would seem that their roles have reversed. Rin is now the cold emotionless one, no longer bringing gift after gift to her lord, while Sesshomaru is now the one bringing gifts to the girl ho no longer seems to care.

Why, is Sesshomaru, bringing her gifts? That part is so odd. Is her afraid that she will forget about him and brings her gifts to keep him on her mind? Is he afraid she will never return to him, and live the rest of her life with the humans, and so is bringing gifts to try to sway her to come back to him? Is she angry with him, and he brings gifts as a way to ask forgiveness? Any one of these things is out of character for Sesshomaru. He’s showing emotion. It’s like the episode of Star Trek, when Mr. Spock started laughing. It stunned everyone because Spock is devoid of emotion. Sesshomaru shows no emotion. Emotions are a thing humans do that make them weak and pathetic… he has said this in the past. Yet now here he is showing emotion, by giving gifts. What emotion is he showing? Love? Fear? Guilt? Does it matter? Either way it’s still an emotion, something that Sesshomaru does not admit to having.

So while most fans are saying that Sesshomaru had a change of heart and left Rin, it seems to me, that the one who changed was not Sesshomaru, but Rin. It looks more like Rin left of her own accord, and while Sesshomaru did not want her to leave, he also does not want to hold her prisoner and so let her leave, but is now regretting that he did so.

Why would Rin leave him? What could Kaede have said that could have gotten Rin to leave? Did Rin leave because Kaede told her to? Or did Rin leave and seek refuge with Kaede? Is it possible that Sesshomaru some hoe scared or hurt Rin, to the extent that she no longer felt safe in his care?

What could have happened, I suppose would be affected by how you view their relationship: Master/servant-pet; father/daughter; or lolicon, being the three most commonly accepted theories.

The whole gift-giving thing, completely throws out the father-daughter theory, because, lets face it, how many dad’s go out of their way to buy gifts for their kids for no reason at all? Fathers have a hard time remembering to buy gifts for Christmas and birthdays, and rely on the mother to buy the gifts for them… it’s not logical that Sesshomaru would be buying gifts for Rin if he thought of her as his daughter, though it is logical to believe that Rin did look up to Sesshomaru as though he was a father. I think the father-daughter theory, would only hold true in Rin’s mind and not Sesshomaru’s.

The master-servant or master-pet theories are so similar that I’ll call them one and the same. It is this theory that I personally felt held true for this couple, throughout the series. Rin clearly looked up to Sesshomaru as her master, and obied his every command without question. His fierce protection of her, is no different than the protection one gives to a beloved house-pet. He protects her, keeps her safe, kept her feed and healthy, and pretty much did nothing else. When a dog runs away or gets lost, you look for it, and when you find it you are so filled with joy that you shower it with gifts and treats. This seems to hold true for Sesshomaru’s actions. He has lost his beloved pet to a new owner and is trying to convince her to return to him, through the bearing of gifts.

Than there is the lolicon relationship, which I have already read posts from fans who are pointing the dreaded lolicon finger at Sesshomaru. Actually, as much as I hate to admit it, this does seem to be the most logical and highly likely reason for this unexpected turn of events. Weird, I find myself agree on this point, because until now, I had never actually believed that the lolicon theory was even possible. It just seemed to unlikely and out of character for Sesshomaru. The Sesshomaru gone lolicon was a theory that I pointed at and laughed. However, after reading 558, I can see this being a distinctive possibility, and one that could have gone one of three ways:

One, Sesshomaru, did as most fans suggest, and sent Rin away against her will to live with Kaede. For this to be true in the lolicon theory, we would have to assume that Sesshomaru no longer trusted himself and sent Rin away to protect her from himself.

Second would be that, Rin left of her own accord after a lolicon confrontation between herself and Sesshomasru left her scared to live with him anymore.

Third would be that Kaede, accused Sesshomaru of being a lolicon and took Rin away from him. This one could go one of two ways:

One Sesshomaru is in fact lolicon and Kaede somehow found out and took Rin away.

Two, Sesshomaru is not lolicon, but Kaede just assumed that he was, and took Rin away.

Reading 558, I actually got the impression that the later was true. Kaede, saw Rin and Sesshomaru together for the first time, after Naraku’s death, and was not aware Rin lived with Sesshomaru, before that point (chapter 552). InuYasha said that it was Kaede who said Rin should prepare to return to a human village. (558). So we know that Shortly after Kaede discovered that 7 year old Rin was living with 700+ year old Sesshomaru, she told them that Rin should live in a human village. The question is, how did Kaede convince Rin to come with her, and why did Sesshomaru let Rin go?

We do know that more than once Sesshomaru has told Rin, she could leave if she so desired, so we can assume that it was Rin who decided to leave Sesshomaru, otherwise, I can see no way he would have let her go. He would not have sent her away. He would not have allowed anyone to take her away. The only way he would let Rin go, is if, Rin, left of her own accord. But why would Rin leave?

Have I gotten anywhere with all of this? No. But at least I got it off my chest and now I’ll let someone else unravel this mess and figure it out. I’d love to hear how other fans are taking this. Me? It’s safe to say that I am very upset over this and not taking it very well at all, otherwise I would not have spent the last 3 and 1/2 hours sitting here typing up this rant about it.

What’s your take on this? I’d love to hear what you have to say about this post. Leave a comment and share your views!

Story challenge! Stories wanted for new C2: Sesshy x Rin after chapter 557
New c2 looking for new stories, dealing with the new light shed on the Sesshy-Rin relationship!

http://www.fanfiction.net/community/Beware_Flying_Demons_Bearing_Gifts/59495/

This C2 is devoted to all stories that answer the question: After reading the final chapter (558): Why do you think Kaede took Rin away from Sesshomaru? And will Sesshomaru take Rin back?

I got to agree with the fans who call Sesshy a lolicon, at least to the point that I think Kaede thinks he is, cause I can see no other reason for her to take Rin away from him like that.

I’m miffed over Kaede taking Rin away from Sesshomaru X( but, seeing how 3 years have gone by, and Sesshy is still visiting Rin, we can hope they get together once she’s grown up. Looks like Rumiko is not going to be telling us either way :( , so I’m going to assume they will and be happy with that. :)

I now have a new motto: Beware of flying demons bearing gifts!

YAY! Kaede can’t stop him from bringing gifts to Rin and regardless of what he says about hating humans, and in spite of Kaede, he certainly isn’t going to let Rin forget about him. I want Rumiko to write the rest of this and tell us what happened to cause Kaede to take Rin away, what happened to Rin (and Sesshomaru) during those three years, how do they handle being away from each other now, and what will happen to them after chapter 558?

Well, since Rumiko isn’t going to tell us, that means it’s up to the fans to write their own versions of what happened/will happen. That’s where you come in! If you have a story that deals with the Sesshy-Rin relationship and how it was affected by the events of InuYasha chapter 558, submit it here, cause we want them all!

InuYasha 558: After 11 Years It Has Ended! :(

pawpawpawpawpaw

WHAAAAAAA!!!! :(

My fave series has ended!

I want more, Inu stories…. I’ll have to settle for fanfic now.

*crys* no more new stories about my Sesshy :(

Oh… love the ending though! Jumped into the future… weddings, babies and all! YAY!

Mad at Keade, GRRRRR, I do not agree with her. *fumes and throws poison venom at her*

…seems Sesshy don’t agree with her either…. cool! *rushes off to write fanfic about Fluffy visiting Rin* We all know he doesn’t want her going back to a human village, or he wouldn’t be there, willingly being surrounded by all those pathetic humans! :) Sesshie’s glare at Kagome’s new title for him = Priceless! LOL! LOL! LOL!

I’m miffed over Kaede taking Rin away from Sesshomaru X( but, seeing how Sesshy is visiting Rin, we can hope they get together once she’s grown up. Looks like Rumiko is not going to be telling us either way :( , so I’m going to assume they will and be happy with that. :)

here’s the English online edition:

http://adinuyasha.thebrokenconsole.com/TOC.html

The end spread out over quite a few chapters, so it depends on how far back it’s been since you last read it, how far back you want to start reading.

In the 460′s we meet Sesshomaru’s mom, and by 516 he got his left arm back…which I thought was weird, but than Inu and Sesshy joined forces and set out together to battle Naraku.

Which took another 40 chapters! LOL! So tech. the ending starts at 549 and ends at 557, and than 558 is a final wrap-up that tells us what happened to the gang after they went their separate ways, which was this:

They killed Naraku, than Miroku and Sango got married and had a bunch of kids, Kagome wused her wish to destroy the jewel and got set back home and the well dissapeared, but than 3 years later, the well came back so she and InuYasha get married, kohaku goes off with Totosai and Mioga to train to become a demon slayer, … over all I liked the whole ending, except for what happened to my fave pair, and Rumiko didn’t tell us why it happened, but Kaede suddenly decided that Rin shouldn’t be with Sesshomaru anymore and took her away from him. :( But now he stays near by the village to keep an eye on Rin while she lives with Kaede.

What are you doing today?

Just wondering what everyone plans to do today. (A post that proves I’m either bored or nosy!)

What am I doing? Well, at this very moment I am writing a post about what I am doing this very moment! LOL!

I just got done watching InuYasha on Adult Swim… Sesshomaru was on there today… YAY!

Now I’m getting up and checking my online stuff… blogs, Squidoo, etc.

I have to go to court today (I was summunded as a witness to a case, but I’m not sure why they think I’m a witness, cause I don’t really know to much about the case… oh well, I guess I’ll find out what they want when I get there.)

Later today I have to go out and buy catfood, cat litter, and grain (for the hens).

After that, I’ll come back home and try to get some work done on My Lord Sesshomaru costume.

And that’s what I’m doing today.

What’s your take on this? I’d love to hear what you have to say about this post. Leave a comment and share your views!

Lord Sesshomaru’s Heko-Obi

pawpawpawpawpaw

Today I am figuring out how to make Sesshy’s Heko-Obi. And trying to figure out how he wears it, the loops and knots and drapes, don’t seem to be in a logical order. Of course, I need to figure out which heko-obi I’m planning to make as well. I want to make the pink and red manga one, to wear with the pink flower kosode I’m making, because I just like pink and thenk the pink heko-obi would look better with the pink kosode, but in the movie he wore the dark blue heko-obi with the pink flower kosode. Can I cheat and mix and match his cloths?

Over his Kimono, Sesshomaru wears a very formal Hakama, a black obi, battle armor, and an obi-sash called a Heko-obi. We shall know take a look at the Heko-Obi and it’s multiple variations.

Heko-Obi

The Heko-Obi is a thin, highly decorative, brightly colored silk sash, a type of Obi worn by men. It generally serves no purpose other than formal decoration of ceremonial wear. Sesshomaru’s is distinctively longer and fancier than that normally worn by men and it tied at the waist to form a flower-like bow. Long fancy Obis of this type, were generally worn by women, not men, as a man’s Obi is generally much short and has no long drape to it. Sesshomaru’s Heko-obi is therefor highly unusual, and more resembles the belted sashes worn by Chinese noblemen, rather than those worn by Japanese noblemen. Though highly decorative, Sesshomaru’s heko-obi does serve a purpose, as he uses it to sheath his swords to his side.

Samurai:
An Illustrated History

More than one Heko-obi has been seen to be worn by Sesshomaru. The Heko-obi is the item with see with the most variations, to date I have counted 8 different versions of it. As with the alternate kimono styles, the alternate heko-obi styles could be taken as a mistake on the part of the anime artists or manga inkers or as the fact that Sesshomaru owns multiple heko-obis. For my own costume I am going to assume the later and make all of the alternate styles and colors. Here is a list of the different versions he has been seen wearing:

<

    Heko-Obi: Anime Version:

The anime version of Sesshy’s Heko-Obi is by far and without a doubt the most popular version of it. This is the one most people quickly identify as being his “standard” Heko-obi, and the one used by most costumers, when making a Lord Sesshomaru costume.

Sesshomaru’s anime Heko-Obi is a brilliant eye-popping shade of yellow, embellished with purple trim. See the many pictures of him on the page, to see a detail of this ocean wave pattern. It is uncertain if the purple designs are painted on, dyed, or embroidered onto the heko-obi.

If you wish to make one of the alternate heko-obis, here are the details:

Alternate Heko-Obi #1: Original Manga Version

Alternate Heko-Obi #1 is the same as the one he usually wears, except for the color. This one is a pale pastel petal pink or a shade commonly called “bubble gum pink”, and the designs on it are red instead of purple. (Sesshomaru’s debut picture shows him in hammered bronze armor and a pink Heko-Obi.)

Sesshomaru was originally introduced as InuYasha’s older sister, not older brother. The color of his Heko-obi changed from pink to yellow after the story was rewritten and republished with him as a boy instead of a girl.

Alternate Heko-Obi #2: Anime Version; Not Common

Alternate Heko-Obi #2 is the same as the one he usually wears, except for the color. This one is the same brilliant shade of yellow, but the designs on it are royal blue instead of purple.

Alternate Heko-Obi #3: Anime Version; Not Common

Alternate Heko-Obi #3 is also the same as his usual one, except for the color, which is a dark gold-yellow, possibly metallic, and has navy blue designs on it.

    Alternate Heko-Obi #4: Movie Version

Alternate Heko-Obi #4 is completely different from his usual wear. We only see this one once, in the movie flashback, when Sesshomaru was a young teenager, about 14 or 15 years old (human equivalent). He wears it with his pink flower kosode. This one is made of a dark blueish-purplish cloth, which resembles a velvety material. The lower edges of it have a gold banner-like pattern which appears to be embroidered in. The ends of this Heko-obi are trimmed with a band of long gold tassels. This Heko-obi is shorter than the one he normally wears.

Alternate Heko-Obi #5: Manga Version (Japan Only)

Alternate Heko-Obi #5 is the same as the one he usually wears, except for the color. Though not seen in the United States, this one is fairly common in Japanese editions, and has been seen used a few times used in Japanese costumes, as well as being used quite often in Japanese fan-art. Instead of being yellow, this one is a pale whispery shade of sky blue, and the designs on it are royal blue instead of purple.

Alternate Heko-Obi #6: VIZ Promotional Product “Chibi” Version (Japan Only)

I have only seen this one in VIZ’s promotional “Chibi-art” These picture show Sesshomaru as a Chibi, or a small child, about 7 or 8 years old. In this picture he was shown wearing a much more traditional Heko-obi, without both side drapes and the long flowing drapes at the front. Alternate Heko-Obi #6 was made of a plain bright yellow cloth.

Alternate Heko-Obi #7: VIZ Promotional Product Version (Japan Only – very rare)

I have only seen this one once, on a rare promotional art picture, which shows Sesshomaru “at home” and out of his normal nobleman’s outfit and wearing a drabber set of “house cloths”. In this picture he was shown wearing a much more traditional Heko-obi, without both side drapes and the long flowing drapes at the front. Alternate Heko-Obi #7 was made of a stiffer (possibly brocade) fabric, and bright red.

    Obi

Once we see Sesshomaru not wearing his usual battle armor. He is seen wearing neither his Haramaki nor his spiked plates. From this episode we know that underneath his battle armor and over his kimono and hakama, Sesshomaru wears a very wide, plain black obi, most likely to have been made of silk brocade.

What’s your take on this? I’d love to hear what you have to say about this post. Leave a comment and share your views!
