Patterns for Dagger Costume from Final Fantasy 9

pawpawpawpawpaw

I was helping a fellow CosPlayer find info for a costume today, and I ended up do way more research than I had intended to do, and well, now I have a post for my blog from it. So if any one out there is looking for the patterns to make Princess Garnet-Dagger from Final Fantasy 9, or any other character from any other video game, anime, or manga, that requires a pouffy sleeved blouse and a unitard, than here are the patterns you could use for it.

You can actually buy the unitard here or here.

That is not something most pattern companies are going to have. You have asked the right person for help though, cause I do theater and dance costumes too, and I know where to find patterns for those. KwikSew sells specialty dance wear patterns, and they have several different unitard patterns.

To make it, I would try using one of these patterns and alter the neckline:

KwikSew Pattern 3273

KwikSew Pattern 3052

KwikSew Pattern 2633

KwikSew Pattern 2722

For the blouse, that’d be pretty easy to find. A lot of companies have some like it. Here’s a few that might work, all a a bit different, some would be a “reinterpretation” of the original look, but all would work:

KwikSew: Pattern 3065 or Pattern 3062

Simplicty: 3887 or 4177

McCalls: M5050 or M5469

Folkwear: #103

Vogue: V8032 or V8453 or V8289

If it was me, I think I’d use This one for the blouse, because I like this one the best: McCalls M5050

Of course, I could be thinking of entirely a different costume, and than none of this would be very helpful to you.

What’s your take on this? I’d love to hear what you have to say about this post. Leave a comment and share your views!

Maps for your novel?

Is anyone creating maps for their NaNoWriMo novels this year?

I haven’t drawn any maps yet, because I tend to map as I write and of course I can’t start writing for anouther 14 days yet. I’ll prob’ly do some maps at some point, cause I usually do, but my maps are generally more rough sketches on the corners of the paper I’m writing the story on. More doodles and scribbles than actual maps realy, not anything I’d put in the books, but rather things to help me visualize as I write.

I do love creating vitual maps though, useing the computer games: Age of Mythology and Emperor. Both games have a map making feature, that allows you to play the game on your map after you’ve created it, so it’s great for getting to “walk through” your world and see it in 3D. Has anyone else created maps useing video games?

I also use Soul Calibur III to create 3D versions of my characters.

POST ARCHIVED TO OLDER DATE BECAUSE MOVED TO MY NEW COSPLAY BLOG AND OFFTOPIC FOR THIS BLOG!

Bad Habits; A Result of Watching Horror Movies!

I was just cruising around here on WordPress, and I came across this really cool blog CHECK IT OUT!

This post in particular caught my attention. Three Odd Habits People Have.

OMG! I do both of those first two! I can’t pass up a globe without looking for the old countries that no longer exist…

and I always reach in and turn on the light before entering any room, not just the bathroom… a weird habit that I started doing when I was 8 years old after watching Vincent Price’s “Mad Magician”, I used to be afraid he’d be waiting in the room the saw me up! I well always remember that as the scariest movie I ever saw. Now 20 years later I still do it, cause it became a habit! LOL!

This one, also from the same blog, is just great! LOL @ floating bricks! Super Smash Bros! That is one of the greatest games ever made, me and my 3 brothers play it all the time. These comics are soo cool! Good work! Just make sure you get a power mushroom and not a poison one though! LOL!

I am a huge fan of Don Rosa and his book The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck.

Of course that means I’m also a huge fan of Carl Barks and his art work and stories as well.

Additionaly I run over 200 web-sites which when grouped together, make up The Space Dock 13 Network. These sites, include 12 Fanlistings, 9 Blogs, 7 Forums, 56 Online stores, 13 sites devoted to my Disney fandoms, 68 web-rings, 2 RPG’s, a couple of sites where I review books, movies, & other web sites, countless various sites I built on a spur of the moment whim, and several small personal home pages, for a grand total of more than 3,000 pages! And The Space Dock 13 Network gets bigger every day… this blog is proof of that, as it is the newest addition to the Network; and watch for Space Dock 13 to grow even faster than ever, because my 3 teenaged brothers have just begun to to learn the art of creating web sites, already they have added 5 new sites to the Network!

I have been on the internet since 1997, I quickly became addicted and never looked back! I bet you can tell!

So what do I do when I’m not writing books or cruiseing online? Well, I love to watch movies and read. My fave actors are Vincent Price & Johnny Depp… and if you are a fan of JD too, than you’ll have caught that quote I slipped into the first paragraph of this post… If you missed it, than go back and re-read the first paragraph, if you still can’t find it, go watch Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, cause that’s what it came from.

Another actor/character combo I like is Alan Rickman as Prof. Snape.

I’m a life long fan of Willy Wonka… before Johnny Depp, and before Gene Wilder, there was the CANDY, CANDY, CANDY! In the 1970′s I was a taste-tester for The Willy Wonka Candy Company… I got to eat Nerds, Runts, Tart N Tinies, and Rinky-Dinks months before they hit the store shelves! Oh what bragging rights I had back than! I quickly became a devoted fan of the first movie staring Gene Wilder, and than when Johnny Depp took over as the new Wonka it was a dream come true! All Hail Wonka! (I’m eating Laffy Taffy, Lik-m-Dips, and Nerds as I write this!) Gotta love Wonka!

My fave writers are Kieth Laumer (Retief) and Douglass Adams (Hitchhicker’s Guide To The Galaxy & Dr. Who).

My fave TV shows are Darkwing Duck, X-Files, Star Trek (original), Dr. Who (Tom Baker), Xena, Colombo, and Sherlock Holmes staring Jeremy Brett.

My fave singers are C*C*DeVille, Poison, David Bowie, & Alice Cooper.

I love cats, dogs, roosters, birds, and esp. eels. (Have or have had pets of all of the above.)

I love living near the ocean, I love the smell of the salt air, the sound of the waves, the feel of the sand between my toes… nothing in the world is better than living on the cold icey North Atlantic Ocean!

Well, that’s me. Why not comment and tell me about you?
